It does feel that the art world is always focused on the newest, shiniest objects. I love that you seem unconcerned about the year a piece of art was produced, that you understand that an artist’s life is a continuum. A work created decades ago should be viewed as having equal value, a chapter of the story in the context of a life in the studio.
Thank you for sharing your inner thoughts. As an artist, I've known many art advisors professionally and, through hours of conversations during studio visits have heard about their challenges. I've noticed that some artists view art advisors with suspicion, sometimes to the point of sabotaging their own sales. The next time I hear that from an artist, I'm going to recommend your diary.
Thank you for this article. I have worked in the art world for years and have known of art advisors, but never actually understood what they did. It was illuminating to learn how much you worked with artists where I would have assumed much more of your time would have been with the collectors.
Thank you, Patricia. I think it’s surprised me over the years too. The collectors may be the destination, but so much of my time is with artists and in studios.
I hear you Greg - and appreciate what you do, a lot.
Thank you Lucy.

I know it’s only one part of what you do, but your Substack is a real gem. 💎 It is clear how much love, time and care you put into all of your work.
Thank you Susannah!
